Red Star Growers

Interview question?

Red Star Growers was founded in the early 1930s by local farmers in Burlingham, starting when Bill Paggett sold premium spring cabbage from Woodfield Farm at the Central Market in Pershore in 1932. This success established the farm’s reputation for quality, leading to the adoption of the five-point Red Star trademark, which remains as a quality standard mark today.

In 1988, George Revill and John Bennett officially established Red Star Growers, building on their families’ agricultural backgrounds. The operation has since expanded to approximately 1,500 acres, including multiple farms. Red Star Growers now manages all aspects of production, from crop planning to marketing and distribution. In 1997, the formation of a grower partnership allowed them to qualify for EU Government funding as a Producer Organisation, enhancing operational efficiency and profitability.

Red Star Growers is strategically located for easy access to the motorway network, enabling efficient deliveries across the UK. The company serves a diverse clientele that includes major retailers, catering and food services, local outlets, and large wholesale markets, all while providing quality produce.

Their packhouse holds independent BRC accreditation at the higher grade A level, ensuring that all procedures, including Due Diligence, meet and often exceed required standards, giving customers confidence in the quality and safety of their products.
